The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly known as RCIA) is a program for adults to be received into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation, which include Baptism (for those not previously baptized in a Christian church), Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
The program begins with an inquiry phase that allows one to learn more about the faith before discerning whether to move forward in the process. Going forward in OCIA is always voluntary and at the option of the participant.
Weekly meetings (hybrid) from August to May
OCIA begins in late August and continues to early May. The group gathers weekly on Tuesday evenings (mix of Zoom and in-person), with occasional weekend gatherings for special rites and occasions. The weekly format involves individual reading and prayer, with group presentations and discussion. OCIA participants who complete the program receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil mass.
Come, grow in your faith.
